Meet Roberto

If you’ve ever sat at a table with good wine, good food, and good company, you already understand what Roberto believes in.

He’s the person welcoming you at each tasting. The one pouring the wine, telling the stories, asking the right questions — and quietly making sure everyone feels at ease. But he is not just here to serve wine. Roberto is here to share something deeper: a way of living that he grew up with.

“I do not want people to feel intimidated by wine. I want them to enjoy it, ask questions, laugh, and walk away having learned something new — about the wine, or maybe even about themselves.”

From the Basque Country to Minneapolis

Roberto was born and raised in the Basque Country, in northern Spain — a place where wine is part of daily life, not just for special occasions. He didn’t learn about wine in a classroom. He learned it by watching, tasting, listening. From neighbors. From family. From walking through vineyards that had been there for generations.

Before founding VinoMN, Roberto spent over 13 years as a schoolteacher. You will feel it the moment he starts guiding a tasting.

He does not just tell you about a wine — he helps you understand it. Not in a pretentious way, but like a good friend who’s excited to show you something they love.

“I’ve planned the trip that I love to take myself. My primary motivation is sharing the gems about Spain that most Americans have not heard of and doing the things I love in the places that mean the most to me. You can trust that my personal involvement ensures an authentic and enriching experience for you.”
